interior design class question?
I am thinking about going back to school, getting my GED, and studying to be an interior designer. How long does it take, and what prerequisites do I need?
Answer: Some schools require a portfolio review before you may be admitted into their Interior Design program. Basic drawing skills and some drafting will help. Most states now require Interior Designers to be licensed. Check with the governing body of your state or with an advisor at a College which offers a FIDER accredited program (very important). Once you have your degree you will most likely be required to complete an internship with a professional designer or architect before you will take the NCIDQ examination which will then qualify you for your own license....In Texas the total process takes six years (education and employment combined).
