Before & After: Bathroom facelifts and simple solutions look of his condos basement, which was an unattractive dank, cold area with old carpeting and several small rooms that were not large enough to serve any real purpose.
His goal was to add a large, polished bathroom to the space and to expand his tiny closet. The existing walls were knocked down, and remodeler Chris Werley of Landmark Residential created a whole new space for the large bathroom, which features a Jacuzzi-style tub, a glass-block shower and a countertop with double sinks. The carpet was replaced with laminate flooring, and the entire room features safari décor with a contemporary flair. It was decorated with items from Queen's Garden in Sandy Springs. A wall was added in front of the bathtub to close off part of the basement and to form a large walk-in closet off of the bathroom. This bathroom renovation was in the $20,000 to $30,000 range.
Brian Patterson Designs, Inc. provided clear-cut renovations to two bathrooms in an Atlanta home. Old and soiled carpeting, oak cupboards with an 80s-style pink hue and polished-brass strip lighting defined the old master bathroom. The walls and cupboards were redone in a neutral-colored distressed finish. Incandescent sconces replaced the glare of the old lighting, and a decorative mirror and new accessories gave a more modern and toned down look to the space. The redesign was about $2,000.
This powder room needed a more open space, which was achieved with a wall-to-wall mirror brought in from another room in the house. Sconces replaced the dated fixture over the old mirror, and a textured wallpaper with a detailed border added much-needed elegance to the bathroom. There was no vanity for the pedestal sink, so the designer added a petite trunk with iron legs to hold towels. These changes cost $1,200.
